Carol Mayer
I have lived in the beautiful Peace country all my life. Originally from Valhalla I now live on Saskatoon mountain with my husband of 35+ years, 3 cats, and 1 dog. We built a straw bale house that fits in well with the landscape and the various and sundry wildlife that visit us.
I have never gone to an art school, but I’ve been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. When I’m not drawing I’m gardening or writing and have a few romances e-published.
I call my art Canadiana. The vivid colours of nature and ethnic art from around the world inspire me. I like to put animals in environments or with other animals that don’t ‘go together’ because to me it symbolizes the diversity of cultures in our wonderful country. When I put an east coast puffin by a north inukshuk and use the colours of Haida and Cree art and a symbol from Norway or Africa---it’s Canada! The small red dot is the heart, ‘where the wild things are’.
