After graduating from University of Alberta with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, we moved to my first job and started a family. In 1972 I started taking photographs of the two children as well as the holidays that we went on. Using 35mm cameras, I took pictures of the growing children, holidays and at work for documentation.

After several years working in various pulp mills, I semi-retired and moved to Beaverlodge and turned the hobby into a home-based business. I started taking photographs around the Peace River District area as well as the grandchildren and holidays. This year I am planning to introduce some of the photos taken in Alberta and British Columbia.

As the home-business progressed, I started making and selling photo and note cards, photos and other digital related items. Some of my cards and digital services such as scanning photos, slides and negatives and transfer from VHS tapes to DVD can be seen on my website, www.johnsdarkroom.ca
