Susan Farber - Fibre Artist

"I want the viewer to be intrigued by the unexpected they might find in the art I create ...

A piece of fibre art might begin as an idea, or thought that takes hold and when I touch the fabrics and blend the colours together, that idea takes on another dimension, often becoming something I didn't start out to create.

I display my work three times a year; at the Women's Art Festival held in City Park, Kingston in August; at the Fall Fibre Affair held every october at the allan Macpherson House in Napanee; and the Fibre Stone & Clay Show & Sale, held each November at the Fibre Studio in Moscow, Ontario.

As an active member of a number of textile groups in the area; a teacher in both a local quilt shop and my own Fibre Studio, I find the sharing of ideas and techniques with fellow fibre artsts is the best way to continue to grow as an artist."

All of Susan's fibre bowls are created using her own hand painted or hand dyed fabrics - with machine embroidery stitching.  These bowls are beautiful accent pieces - whether just for show, or displaying a collection of shells or stones; or possibly a few pieces of fruit on your kitchen table! The bowls can be surfaced washed with a damp cloth if the need should arise.
