Emily Lozeron grew up on a farm in Northern Alberta and always loved animals. She ran around catching any animals that she could get her hands on and spent much of her time with the cattle and horses. When she was 8 she found her first book of Robert Bateman and fell in love with nature art. At that time Emily started drawing with pencil.
Eventually Emily grew up and earned her BScN in Nursing and moved to Calgary and then to the United States for a couple years. However art and painting always seemed to find its way back into her life. While living in Calgary, she met a fellow wildlife artist, David Kitler, and he mentored and taught her many things about painting and how to be an artist with integrity. Soon Northern Alberta beckoned Emily back to Grande Prairie, where she lives now.
Emily mainly works in Acrylics and pencil, focusing on wildlife and scenery. However she also loves to paint and draw portaits. Her goal is to paint the character of whatever subject she is working with. She does not want to paint only the pretty subjects, but to find the beauty even in the "ugly" subjects. Emily hopes to portray wildlife in a way that people who may not have the opportunity to see it in nature can appreciate its beauty. She spends a lot of time making sure it is an accurate depiction of her subject while still having an artistic quality to the painting. Her paintings are on baltic birch which she prepares and gessos to make sure that her pictures will last for the person who may purchase them.
